President and Founder

Paula IveyOverview:

Paula is the president of The CSR Group, LLC (, a company she founded in 2002, which specializes in CSR/Sustainability Strategy and Communications. Over the past 12 years, CSRG has played a leadership role globally in the rapidly evolving field of Sustainability/CSR. Paula has worked with dozens of Fortune 500 companies on Sustainability/CSR Strategy, Stakeholder Engagement, Sustainability Reporting, and CSR Communications. Her work has centered on Sustainability Strategy, Stakeholder Engagement, Sustainability Reporting, and CSR Communications. Clients have included Dell, Global Foundries, Brown Forman, The Coca Cola Africa Foundation, Devon Energy, The McGraw Hill Companies, AMD, Whole Foods, Burt’s Bees and many others.

She has extensive knowledge and understanding of the leading standards of sustainability including the CDP, the GRI, LEED, ISO 26000, ILO Standards, the DJSI, and many others. Paula excels at guiding companies in their development of a holistic sustainability strategy, and in guiding and training executives about sustainability. Her work has focused in the area of supply chain responsibility/responsible sourcing, and she was a key speaker at the APEC Ministerial meetings in Bali Indonesia about greening the supply chain. 

She designed the CSRG sustainability management tools including:

Key client work:

  • Worked with Whole Foods Market on Supply Chain Responsibility 
  • Led key meeting and working group of Whole Foods Top 100 Suppliers to address SCR issues in the Natural Products Sector
  • Worked with a client to develop a strategy for launching a system for managing and tracking chain of custody and other issues in the food sector down to the multi-ingredient level.
  • Led the strategic development of initial GRI and Non-GRI Sustainability/CSR Reports for numerous clients.
  • Managed the development of strategic communications about sustainability for numerous companies
  • Led stakeholder engagement with a local community over an environmentally sensitive development (Platinum LEED)
  • Led multi-stakeholder engagement meeting on domestic agricultural labor issues for a client
  • Conducting benchmarking across industries and within competitive sets for many companies on numerous issues.
  • Using our self-assessment tools and others, develop holistic sustainability strategies for numerous companies.
  • Developed holistic stakeholder model through which all of our work flows.
  • Developed a maturity model to assess where a company is along a continuum of sustainable development.
  • Developed a multi dimensional global internal communications campaign about ethics and CSR, which was translated into 9 languages for a Fortune 100 company.
  • Developed and managed all aspect of running the business for 11 years.
  • Worked with a client to assess their values and how values were being communicated and embedded at best practice companies.
  • Developed a plan for the Coca-Cola Africa Foundation to use their distribution system to combat AIDS across Africa.
  • Conducted a stage one and two carbon-footprinting project for a client
  • Conducted an extensive analysis of the DJSI, the CDP, the G-S, and others for a Fortune 50 client to assess their strengths and weaknesses and to develop a strategy for applying to each.

Educating about Sustainability:

Paula was on the faculty (currently on leave) at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas for 8 years where she created and taught the first courses at the undergraduate and MBA level on CSR and Sustainability. The courses that she developed and teaches include:

  • Sustainability Issues in Marketing
  • Global Issues in Sustainability and CSR
  • Strategic Sustainability and CSR (MBA)
  • Communication for Non-Profits and Social Entrepreneurship

She is also on the faculty at the Bainbridge Island Institute (BGI) – where she teaches an MBA (Masters in Sustainable Business) course on Applied Sustainability.

Paula also served on the University of Texas President’s Task Force on Sustainability, and then on the standing committee on Sustainability for the University President’s Office. Paula worked with professors in many other colleges to bring interdisciplinary and integrated education on sustainability to the university. 

She has overseen student projects for corporate clients such as Frito Lay, Starbucks (3 projects), ACCO, Whole Foods, and many others corporate relationships that she brought with her to the university through her consulting work. 

Paula has agreements with two publishers Berrett Kohler and Greenleaf Publishing, a leading publisher based in London, to write a book about Supply Chain Responsibility, which will be published in 2014.

Leadership: She was an official delegate to the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) - the World Summit on Sustainable Development -in Johannesburg, South Africa, August-September 2002. She served on the first academic advisory council for the UN Global Compact, amongst many other leadership roles. She is a noted leader in her field and a frequent speaker and consulted expert on CSR and Sustainability.  Please see the attached media and speaking engagement list for further detail on her leadership role.  

Prior to founding The CSR Group LLC, Paula was the Director of Corporate Ethics and CSR with Compaq Computer Corporation, and has held other senior management positions in her career, including roles in marketing and in geology earlier in her career. 

Additional Professional Experience: Paula's experience includes working as a consultant to the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2002, held in Adelaide Australia. She was also the Director of Marketing at numerous companies. She served on the Host Committee for the Asian Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) in Seattle. She worked for Tenneco Inc. in International Development. 

Education: Paula holds a Master's degree in International Business (MBA) from Thunderbird (The American Graduate School of International Management) and a Bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of Texas at Austin. She completed a Managing Ethics in Organizations course at Bentley College. She is a graduate of the 1997 class of Leadership Texas. Paula is proficient in Spanish and French, and has US and Australian residency.

Celine Steer

Expertise: CSR strategy reporting and communications, Business & Human Rights, materiality assessment, stakeholder engagement, public policy, international development

Céline Steer is a CSR consultant with  over five years experience in this field. She was a CSR consultant at Schuttelaar & Partners in the Netherlands, where she helped B2B and B2C develop CSR strategy and communications and support responsible practices of the Dutch presence abroad through its diplomatic missions and trade organizations around the world. She was also on the leading team for software development to manage, monitor, and communicate the CSR strategy of organizations. 

Prior to that, Céline worked at GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) headquarters in Amsterdam as the liaison between GRI and international organizations, including the UN Global Compact, UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, OECD (Organization of Economic Cooperation Development), IOE (the International Organization of employers), etc.  She represented GRI at high level events and worked closely with the Deputy Chief Executive and coordinated the work of the Group of Friends of Paragraph 47 (group of 10 country governments promoting sustainability reporting policies).

Before GRI, Céline was a consultant in digital CSR communications at Lundquist in Milan, where she assessed the CSR communication of 300 of the largest European companies and supported clients in this field.

Céline speaks fluently English, French and Spanish, and is proficient in Italian and Portuguese. She has two Master Degrees in Sustainable Development (Institute of Political Sciences in Paris) and International Relations (Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations), and a Bachelor Degree of Communications & Public Relations (University of Texas at San Antonio).

Brigitte Johannessen

Overview: Brigitte Johannessen has three years of experience in social media communications, marketing, web development and graphic design - one of which was spent strategically managing social media for Well Aware, a non-profit organization that develops sustainable communities predominantly in East Africa. Combining her media and marketing skills with her education in environmental sciences and sustainability as well as her ability to do in-depth scientific research, Brigitte effectively communicates complex information to a broader audience.

During her final year at the University of Texas at Austin, Brigitte focused her independent research on the links between urban development, population growth, carbon emissions and energy efficiency in buildings. Her final work included a library of images of the Austin - Roundrock Metropolitan region that mapped out residential development and population growth over time, a research poster explaining the tie between buildings codes, energy efficiency and carbon emissions, as well as a short informative video summarizing the nature and impact of her research and this field of work. 

Combining her experience, education, and skills, Brigitte is able to develop and manage projects on different scales and timelines – both independently and collaboratively with a team.

Education: Brigitte holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin. Brigitte, a native Norwegian, is Fluent in both English and Norwegian and is proficient in Danish, Swedish, and Spanish.

Adrienne Pierce

Head of Business Development

Expertise: Product marketing, strategy, partnership, environmental technology, program management, sustainability

Adrienne Pierce has more than 15 years in commercializing technical products, managing programs and building business partnerships. Her leadership in global, matrixed organizations and more nimble start-ups, brings the business acumen to effectively scale CSRG’s sustainability tools for greater impact.

Adrienne co-led the REDI (Renewable Energy Data and Intelligence) program at SunEdison, to redesign the data collection and visualization platform for performance monitoring of over 1800 renewable energy sites. Adrienne co-chaired and founded the SEMI SCIS Working Group (Components, Instruments and Sub-systems), giving the supply chain a voice to more proactively and cost-effectively meet the needs of semiconductor customers.

Adrienne was the Edwards’ Program Advisor assignee to Sematech Environmental Technology Center driving  $1.5-2M of collaborative projects with 8 industry leaders such as Intel, IBM and Global Foundries for Greenhouse Gas reporting and perfluorocompound (PFC) destruction.

 Adrienne has worked as a pre-published reviewer providing input to "Ready to be a Thought Leader" by Denise Brosseau. Adrienne is currently a pro-bono strategy consultant for TapRoot and mentor to environmental technology start-ups for CleanTech Open accelerator.

Eric Israel

Special Adviser

Expertise: Sustainability Finance and Reporting, Corporate Governance and Supply Chain Management


Eric Israel is an internationally recognized auditing and sustainability professional, with global experience in sustainability finance and reporting, corporate governance and supply chain management. With over 30 years of "Big 4" consultancy experience, he successfully dealt with the unique challenges facing many multinational companies and investors on how to understand and integrate sustainability issues. He was the founding partner of KPMG Global Sustainability Services, and in this role advised many thought leadership organizations on extra financial measurement and reporting topics. As the former leader of Global Reporting Initiative in New York City, he was engaged in several emerging global legislation and capital market initiatives such as the World Federation of Exchanges Sustainability Working Group. With Dutch roots Eric has a unique cultural balance that contributed to strengthening the impact of several global sustainability and supply chain programs. Eric is currently a Teaching and Advisory Fellow at Boston College Center of Corporate Citizenship and an adviser to the Global Initiative for Sustainability Ratings.

Miguel Del Rosario

Chief Technology Officer

Expertise: Internet technologies, e-commerce, online marketing & social media, mobile applications, data modeling, cloud computing, media streaming, systems integration, and product design, with strong strategic and long-range planning abilities; skilled in defining product and technology strategies in B2C and B2B environments.

Creative, hands-on executive with over 15 years of experience leading software development, product design, and managing business processes to drive revenue and market share while managing costs. Results driven with unique background in software design and engineering, Miguel has expertise in  His diverse background covers engineering, product development, user experience, network operations, global outsourcing, and quality assurance. His technical background includes: parallel and distributed computing; high scalability and large system integration; SaaS; Web based n-tier and client/server architectures; object-oriented technologies; web services; communication protocols; SQL databases; video/image and 2D/3D graphics processing; machine learning, data mining, scientific and numerical computation and modeling. He is experienced working internationally and with teams distributed across geography.

Since 2005, Miguel has been an independent consultant with Zaium Projects, Inc., specializing in web and mobile applications, data analytics and dashboards, e-commerce, Intranets, websites, back-end systems and API’s, and Open Source development, with recent projects including: psychometric models for education and assessment; a large-scale industrial robotics interface; web tools for an e-commerce platform provider. In 2014, Miguel joined Ticketech International, a leading provider of products and solutions to the parking industry, as Director of Technology. In 2010, Miguel co-founded Agilid, an IT and software integration company providing virtualization and cloud services, high availability systems, unified communications, network infrastructure and security services, and special product development. In 2009, He became Architect and lead-developer of a real-time collaboration, conferencing, and social networking web application at Watchitoo, Inc. Prior to that, Miguel was co-founder and President of Creneaux, a production and technology company that offered solutions for the creation and distribution of personalized, interactive, online rich-media presentations to the enterprise for training, education, or product communication where he was also responsible for all technology research, design, and development for their object-oriented rich-media delivery and authoring platform. Before forming Creneaux, Miguel was Chief Technology Officer at Sorceron inc., where he lead a team of 60 engineers and was responsible for all product development and technology research efforts related to building a high-end 3D-based multimedia simulation-and-gaming network platform and authoring tool. In 1999, as Senior Research Scientist and Industry Liaison with the Real-Time Geometry Lab at Metacreations inc., he was a member of the team that developed MetaStream™, the de-facto standard file format and compressed encoding scheme, adopted by Intel and AOL Time Warner, for Internet streaming of 3D models and animations. Before that, he was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Telecommunications and Information Science (ITTI) in Poznan, Poland, doing research on video and wavelet compression and consulting on Video-on-Demand and digital cable systems for the 3rd largest Cable TV provider in Poland. In 1992, as Research Scientist and Sr. Systems Developer at nCUBE inc., Miguel was part of a small team that built the Operating System and Computational Science applications for the nCUBE supercomputer. He designed and developed the first parallel file system and multi-device input/output system interface for Massively Parallel Multi-computers that became the basis for the file system in IBM’s Power Parallel™ computer and was used as part of NASA’s Earth Observing Satellite data capture system.  

Miguel has been a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Engineering at Syracuse University, holds Master’s degrees in both Computer Science and Computer Engineering. The bulk of his research has been in the areas of: video, image, and 3D compression; image processing; parallel and distributed computing algorithms and protocols; 3D visualization and modeling; large-scale streaming servers and input/output systems; and computational physics algorithms. He has published more than twenty scientific and industry articles on image and geometry processing, massively-parallel scientific computing, and distributed input/output computer systems.
